You’ve just sent your little one off to kindergarten for the first time. It’s a very special time for both of you. But within a couple of weeks, you will get a letter sent home. It will tell you all about the kindergarten fundraising idea your school has chosen to do. This is the age when many students learn all about fundraising and we want to help you and your school choose the best kindergarten fundraisers.
How can we do this? We help thousands of groups raise money every year. A large percentage of those groups are schools – especially elementary schools and kindergartens. So we can help by sharing information on fundraisers that these other groups have used successfully. After all, if these kindergarten fundraisers are tried and proven don’t you think they will work well for you too?
On this page, we provide a starting point to locate the best Kindergarten fundraising idea for your group. You will see some of the ideas that others have raised money with. If none of those appeals to you we invite you to browse through our website and check out all of our Kindergarten fundraising options.
We have attempted to include Kindergarten fundraising ideas that do not require any upfront money, others than offer extremely high profits and still others that have very low minimums.
If you don’t find the perfect Kindergarten fundraiser on this page then we invite you to continue to browse our website to look at other fundraising ideas or call one of our experienced sales specialists toll-free and they can offer some other great insights for you.
So your precious child is now a kindergarten student. So much will change. Your student will learn so much and be given the opportunity to do new things. Fortunately or unfortunately one of the new experiences will be getting to participate in a kindergarten fundraiser.
Because kindergarten is often the entry point for families into the world of fundraising we think it’s critical for you to choose the best fundraising ideas possible. If parents are happy with the choices made and the way the programs are run in this grade level then they will more likely support fundraisers at later grade levels.
How Do You Choose the Best Kindergarten Fundraiser?
You have two audiences that you need to satisfy when choosing a product or program. You should choose something that can excite the students. The other audience, of course, is the parents of the students. You need to pick something that parents would like to purchase, would be willing to offer to other people, or would be willing to participate in.
So what are some examples of products that kids and parents can get behind? We’ve identified 8 different product fundraisers at the top of this page. You can see that these products were chosen specifically because younger students would enjoy any of the products. They are the kind of products that kindergarteners would plead with their parents to get. If the student is excited to have their parents purchase the product you have overcome many obstacles that stand in the way of successful fundraising.
There are other considerations of course. Here are some of the things you should talk about:
1. Price Point: Fundraising is interesting. People want to support kids but they don’t want to spend crazy amounts of money. Choose a product that is priced low enough for supporters to feel comfortable with. We suggest price points of $.50, $1, $5 or $10.
2. Inventory or No Inventory: There are a couple of different ways to hold a product fundraiser. Items like candy or Smencils need to be purchased and then sold. That means you might have inventory left at the end of your sale.
On the other hand, there are brochure fundraisers where you take orders during a fundraising period, and then after everyone turns in their orders you place an order for the items that have already been sold.
3. Finally, if you do not want to sell a product at all you might consider a Read-a-thon. It’s a great way to get your young students focused on reading and you don’t need to sell any products at all. Click for more info.
